"In terms of bawdiness, this scores very highly. I don't know what the original novel is like but this feels like there's a lot of plot compressed into the not nearly long enough running time. This gives the film a chaotic feel which is very effective in evoking the time some two hundred plus years ago. There's an amazing cast of familiar faces from British film and TV and there's always something happening. I'm not sure how much I liked it though. Writing about it seems better than watching it. It's certainly memorable though." -Letterboxd
