This is superb mahogany GEORGIAN lidded Candle box / Salt box which is a very rare half round shape. This truly is a beautiful piece with the most exquisite patina. This would have hung on the wall for candles or salt. This stunning box could still be used for candles or salt but equally it could have many modern day practical uses, such as a safe place for keys to be kept, whilst adding an air of antique charm to your home.
As can be seen from the photographs it is made from wonderful mahogany. It has a wonderful patina which can only be gained through age. It has a lovely shaped back to it which sets it off beautifully.
The lid hinge is leather with studs which sets the piece off superbly.
The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are: 13 1/4 inches (33.5 cm) wide x 8 inches (20.5 cm) deep x 20 1/2 inches (52 cm) high.
The box is Georgian and dates to circa 1800.
CONDITION: As can be seen from the photographs the condition of the box is in nice used condition especially considering it is over 220 years old just minor knocks and marks you would expect from a piece of this age.
