LARGE ANTIQUE WILLIAM EHRHARDT POCKET WATCH vintage Boer War wind up manual gents

A great looking antique pocket watch which dates to around the late 19th century era.

I believe this particular model was know as the “rabbit killer” due to its size. The model is also said to have been used in the Boer War and First and First World War and was possibly made for this purpose. Some models have the Crows Foot military issue mark inside, but as mentioned below its a tightly fitting case and I do not have the skills or equipment to open the back safely.

William Ehrhardt opened a workshop in Birmingham in 1855 and by 1880 was manufacturing 500 watches a week and by 1898 had opened a retail shop in London.

Condition:-  signs of age and use.  The watch is not working and therefore is being sold for spares or repair.  The case is in good order, the dial has some fine hairline cracks.  I have not been able to open the back because I do not have the appropriate equipment to do so and I don’t want to run the risk of scraping the case and damaging it, therefore I have not been able to take a photo of the mechanism.  If you have any questions please message me, I am not a watch expert but will be happy to help as best I can.

Size:-  this is a nice ergonomic time piece which fits well in the hand.  The case diameter is 54mm

Weight:-  154g (5.4oz)
