California State Route 61 route marker.

Up for sale today is this California State Route 61 sign. Made to the exact standards as used from 1964 to the present along this historic highway.

Highway 61 is a short highway running along the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay. It serves the cities of Oakland, Alameda, and San Leandro. Along the way it provides access to the Oakland airport, as well as road access to Alameda Island from the mainland via its bridges and tunnels.

An original of these is most likely to be found in active service along Route 61. The California Highway Patrol knows where they are supposed to be—on their posts, not in the trunk of your car. So here's your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece...without chancing legal trouble.

The sign is 11 by 12 inches, and weighs 3 lb. 0 oz..

This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!

Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A.
