Lab-created rubies are made using the same materials that are found in natural mined ruby gemstones. They are identical in their chemical composition but lab created gems are kinder to the environment as no mining is involved

They are created in the lab using a flame fusion technique. It is primarily used to produce the lab created ruby, sapphire and padparadscha varieties of corundum. The process involves melting the same chemical compunds found in natural rubies using an oxyhydrogen flame, and crystallising the melted droplets into a boule. The process creates quality gems with less inclusions or imperfections found in natural rubies. They are more affordable than natural mined rubies but lab created gems are not cubic zirconia or glass.

The necklace is versatile and can be worn everyday or for evening events. They make a wonderful gift to mark milestone birthdays. Ruby is also the birthstone of those born in July.
