Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Flower Vase

This is a brass flower vase, hanatate, for Buddhist altars. It is a vessel for Sakaki leaves or Shashagi leaves. The meaning of offering sakaki tree leaves is that we believe the gods living sakaki tree will protect the grave and the soul. It is also common to offer a range of seasonal and symbolic flowers in front of the altar.
