This is a Heavy (145g) Solid silver Cigarette Case that is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1928 and crafted by the prolific Silversmiths "Deakin & Francis." It is of rectangular form with a perfect hinge and clasp plus Superb Signature decoration. Owned by a Victorian Professional footballer and complete with his Picture and Paperwork. It is presented in good, useable condition with no damage.
The cigarette case measures 11cm x 8cm and weighs 145g.

The Victorian professional football player was A.G. Newton who captained South Africa against UK Corinthians when they toured South Africa in 1897 and 1903.

A.G. Newton was, in his day one of the finest forwards ever seen in south Africa.
In 1930 out of respect for A.G.Newton 7 of his pals from the Johannesburg Golf club presented him with this special cigarette case.
It comes with 3 quality photoprints as follows:-
  • A picture of A.G. Newton with contextual information.
  • 2pictures of the internal and external engraving on the cigarette case.
  • I will also include the original book page.
It comes with our certificate of authenticity.
