Born September 27, 1970. Born in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture. He encountered shogi when he was in the first grade of elementary school, and in 1982 (the sixth grade of elementary school), he joined the promotion meeting at the sixth grade. In 1985 (third year of junior high school), he was promoted to 4th dan and became the third junior high school professional shogi player in history. In 1989, he won his first title, "Ryuoh", and in 1996, he achieved the first seven crowns in history. In 2017, he achieved the unprecedented “Eternal Seven Crowns” (Eternal Dragon King, Eternal Master, Eternal Throne, Honorary Throne, Eternal King, Eternal King, Eternal Kisei).
