See the additional 18 pictures we embedded below the description. This auction is for an original vintage 1986 silver Technics portable CD player SL-XP7, silver carrying case SH-CDB7, and power adapter SH-CDA3U. Please note that the CD player does not come with headphones. We used our own personal headphones to test it. The CD player itself is marked in part as follows: TECHNICS. MODEL NO. SL-XP7. PORTABLE CD PLAYER. DIGITAL. MANUFACTURED FEBRUARY 1986. SL-XP7-SM. SER. NO. AE6218K715. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD. MORIGUCHI, OSAKA, JAPAN. The rechargeable portable carrying case itself is marked in part as follows: TECHNICS. PORTABLE CD PLAYER. CARRYING CASE. SH-CDB7. RECHARGEABLE BATTERY. DUAL DC +6V, -6V. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD. MADE IN JAPAN. SER. NO. NH6226B415. The power adapter is marked in part as follows: AC ADAPTOR. MODEL NO. SH-CDA3U. POWER SUPPLY FOR USE WITH CD PLAYER. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD.

The CD player was plugged in using the power adapter and most of its features were tested. The CD player powers up and does play a CD. The track, time, and program display all appear to be in working order. The open, on/off, skip/search, play/pause, remain time, high filter on/off, and stop buttons were all tested and are also in working condition. The headphone jack was also tested and is in working condition. The repeat feature does not appear to be functioning and would not repeat the song when tested. The repeat indicator symbol does come on the screen but the feature is either not working (more likely) and/or we do not know how to make it function. The volume control dial is a little touchy and makes the volume cut off and on at times when being adjusted. We did not test the memory/recall feature or line out.

The carrying case comes with what appears to be its original carrying strap which is intact. The carrying case with the rechargeable batteries is not working. We are guessing that the batteries are dead and would need to be replaced. We attempted to charge the batteries for several hours and did not get any power from them when tested. The rechargeable battery packs appear to be the original ones from 1986. The battery connections look to have some corrosion at the terminals. There is also some oxidation on one of the fuse housings. The fuses appear to be intact. The open tabs on the carrying case are operational as is the locking screw.

The CD player and carrying case have aging, scratches, nicks, dings, dirty and/or dusty areas, general wear, etc. (see pictures). The lid to the CD player also has a faded area where we believe a manufacturer’s label was originally affixed and then removed (see picture). The padding on top of the carrying case has several indentation marks on it (see picture). The combined weight of the CD player, carrying case, and adapter is roughly 3 lbs 8 oz. The CD player itself measures roughly 4 7/8” x 5” x 1 1/4”. at its furthest points. The carrying case measures roughly 5 3/4” x 5 1/4” x 2 1/4”. at its furthest points. This original vintage 1986 silver Technics portable CD player SL-XP7, silver carrying case SH-CDB7, and power adapter SH-CDA3U is sure to be a nice addition to your collection.
