1.78ct Valuable Multi Color Fire Mexican Precious Contra Luz Fire Opal. Cut from older mined Magdalena, Jalisco rough, only a small percent of Mexican opal display multicolored fire and always valuable and expensive. Attractive bright citrus orange base, then with areas displaying nice light to mild internal multi colored fire that is best viewed with a strong direct light source entering stone from behind and at a certain angle. Color play is well masked by orange base and so not visible in most lighting.

PLEASE NOTE: With the contra luz variety of Mexican opal the internal multi colored fire is best viewed in transmitted light (light entering stone from behind), rather than reflected light (light shinning on stone from in front) and although with some stones of this variety, the multi colored fire may be visible in reflected light, the fire is NOT VISIBLE in ordinary lighting.

While NOT VISIBLE in ordinary room lighting, this stone will display nice light to mildinternal multi colored fire when viewed with strong direct transmitted lighting (light source entering stone from behind, such as from a ray of sunlight or even by holding stone up to an ordinary lamp light and moving stone back and forth). Transparent, free of crazing, with very attractive face up and eye appeal. Custom pear cut over 15 years ago from rough well seasoned and so very stable, stone approx. 10.18 x 8.12 x 5.54mm. Valuable opal variety. Beautiful ring or collector's stone.

Photo taken with an ordinary digital camera with lamp light entering stone from behind at at a slight angle to best show fire and last 2 photos in light box with camera flash. Color has not been enhanced - but note that the multi colored fire is NOT VISIBLE in ordinary lighting.
