Petri 1.9 color correted super rangefinder camera .

Comes with original lens cap .

The peri 1.9 is a fare camera to come across these days and from that exceptional class of cameras that are mechanical in the most basic sense of the word. It comes from a time when electronic technology wasn’t the dominant force in photography. Build quality often trumped everything, and Petri knew how to make them. This camera harkens back to an age when manufacturers assumed their customers would practice a certain level of expertise; the camera requires a shooter to have knowledge of what makes a good photograph, and rewards those who respect the craft and hone their abilities. For budget-conscious photographers who are looking for a manual rangefinder of impeccable quality, the Petri F1.9 is pretty close to perfect.

Later models like this one feature the company’s “Green-O-Matic” rangefinder which overlays a large green filter over the rangefinder and frame line window to increase contrast within the main viewfinder. It makes using the camera a joy when the camera is brought to the eye and very easy to focus to many rangefinder I’ve used before .

The camera in very good cosmetic condition . It just needs a good service as the focus is a lot stiffer than is should be , it still moves freely, but requires a bit of pressure to move it .( just needs re-greasing ) and the slow shutter speeds below 15th of a second are not working correctly ( So not uncommon issues with a copal j leaf shutter and easily fixed with a service ) above these speeds the shutter seams to be working correctly

With just a little TLC the camera would be a beautiful camera to use and enjoy as it has a fast 45mm F1.9 lens and a lovely bright and clear viewfinder with a very clear and easy to use focus patch

The body of the camera is in very good condition. . The only noticeable marks are some slight pitting on the top plate in one small area , please see included images .

The lens has no mark or scratches or signs of haze or fungus . Just some light dust particles one would expect in an older camera and these do not affect results .

The focus through is short throw and even though it’s stiff , it can still be moved freely . It’s just requires a bit more force than is reasonable able to use the camera correctly

The shutter speeds from 15th of a second up to 500th of a second look and sound correct . From 8th of a second blow they are a lot slower than they should be , even though they are working and the mechanism for the slower within the shutter needs servicing if the owner intends to shoot at theses slower speeds

The viewfinder is bright and clear and the rangefinder patch is clearly visible .

The horizontal and vertical alignment of the focus patch is correct .

The film advance and rewind mechanism works correctly. The film advance lever spring back very smoothly and slowly . I do not know if the movement is supposed to be like this or faster .

The film compartment is cleans and the rear door shuts securely.

I have owned the camera for well over a year and was going to get around to getting it serviced so I could use it as it’s a beautiful camera and gets fantastic reviews but never did get it serviced and I have to many cameras to play with and it deserves to be used and with some TLC it would be a lovely camera to enjoy .

The camera will be carefully boxed and the posted Royal Mail tracked 48 . Buyer pays for postage .

I have found an online copy of the camera’s instructions manual and links to further information and reviews of the camera in the links below that you can copy and paste into your web browser.
