This is an antique PICKLE CASTOR with a bright BLUE ivt or Polka Dot pattern Jar/insert - decorated with hand painted enamel flowers in gold & white on the front, a single white sprig on the back.
The Frame was made by the FORBES Silver Company - a department of the Meriden Britannia Co., Meriden, Connecticut - organized in 1894. It is a footed piece with beaded trim around the base, the lid, and all over the hoop handle - rosettes can be found on top of the feet and at the bottom & mid points of the handle. All parts fit together perfectly - likely and Original Set. Period Tongs included.
