PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE 16thC GOTHIC TUDOR CARVED OAK ROMAYNE PORTRAIT PANEL!

This sale is for a great Primitive and highly characterful piece dating to the early 16thC and the Tudor period, the piece is beautifully Carved to depict a characterful “Hook Nosed” Figure Head wearing an elaborate Headpiece with a Circular Arcade of Foliage flanked by a quartet of “Woodwose” or Wild Spirits of the Forest. I believe the piece to be likely of French origin.

The piece measures approx 37cm in height - 20cm in width, there are light remnants of old worm / bug damage which has been treated and is not active, there are areas of wear / slight losses to the edges mainly to the lower region and the reverse left and lower sides appear to have received some old preservation treatment with some form of filler etc. Please study all images prior to purchase for an accurate report!
