Vintage Brookes & Gatehouse LTD. Model HOMER K3 (S/N# 6109) Marine Radio Direction Finder Receiver.  I am unable to test this item. NO Accessories (DF Antenna, Headphones / speaker, etc.) are included except for 2 special interconnect cables that I got when I acquired this item. The label on the unit says the manufacturer is located in Lymington, England, The unit uses 4 each batteries; I believe they are type AA 1.5VDC.  Battery type is referenced as P/N# ZM9 / ER9 / MN1500. The battery box appears to be in good condition when the cover is removed. I believe this radio receives the standard broadcast band (600 – 1600 KHz) and the VLF ranges (160 – 400 KHz). I also believe this item was manufactured in the middle – late 1960’s and it appears to be fully transistorized. Here is some info that I found on the internet regarding this RDF Receiver:

RDF uses radio waves to help fix a vessel’s position.  The receiver picks up the signal from a transmitter whose position is known, and with the directional aerial is able to determine the bearing of that transmitter.  If bearings are taken from the signals of several different transmitters, the vessel’s position can be plotted on a chart.  RDF was developed for use in navigation in the 1920’s and was found to be particularly useful in navigation close to shore, up to about 25 miles (40Km) from land.

This item appears to be in fair - good overall physical and cosmetic condition as judging condition is subjective.

Since I have no way to test this item and since this item is over 50 years old, it is being sold for PARTS or REPAIRS per eBay protocol, and as USED, Strictly, AS-IS. The pictures form part of the description.
