For a long time Kenneth ‘Skeng Don’ Black had a dream of creating a top sound system in Jamaica.
Stur Mars was that sound. He rounded up two of the islands best selectors in Ainsley Grey from Kilamanjaro and Danny Dread from Studio 54and some top notch deejays, most of whom are present at this session in Alexandria, St Anns.

Danny Dreadlocks flings down plenty of pre-digital riddims, featuring Half Pint, Junior Reid and Frankie Paul in particular Buro Banton hails up Sturmars as the new sound to rule every sound.

Veteran Jah Mikey, yet another fine deejay who’s never made made that big breaktrhough, is, as ever, full of lyrics.
Cutty Ranks, rough–house deejay in the making, and Major Manzie handle the mic well. Long talking Super Cat, also fresh from ’Jaro’ with plenty to say stands proud as a buffalo soldier over a wicked dub of Half Pints ‘Freedom Fighter’.
This session was one of a series of warm ups for the official Skateland opening. Even so, Skengman must have been pleased with his heavyweight sound.
