Here's an interesting and potentially valuable item! Is it rare? Is it valuable? I guess you will tell me.
You are bidding on an 3600 foot reel to reel tape, on a ten inch reel, containing recordings of the Les Brown Band of Renown, specifically, heard in Live Radio Broadcasts from the Hollywood Palladium in January of 1955 and perhaps also later that year. See above for photos of the tape box containing the complete listing of performances.
This appears to come from multiple appearances in what sounds like it was either a nightly or a weekly program. The tape is recorded in half track mono at 7 1/2 IPS, and covers both sides of the tape, for a total of just about exactly three hours.
The sound quality is largely very good, but there are places during which the sound gets decidedly muddy for a few moments. The vast majority of these spots seemed to be on the first side, and mostly last less than a minute. If you want to know which songs are affected, just let me know. There are also a few places where the sound is impaired momentarily.
The beginning of the second side is missing - seems to be less than a minute, as it picks up early in the first song listed ("I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles"). The material on the first side is already finished before this point in the tape, so nothing is lost on that side.
