Auction of Asian Art

You are bidding on a Mandarin Official's winter hat from the 19th century.  The hat brim is made from soft velvet with indigo dyed silk overlaid at the crown and on the inside of the brim. The inside of the hat would have originally been a bright red linen material, but this has now discoloured to a soft pink-orange. There are two marking inside the hat, one red label of the original manufacturer and a satin woven label with 'Harman' (possibly an early 20th century antique store). A fake braid accessory known as a 'queue' made from real hair has been sewn in at the back of the hat.

Packaging and insurance is included within the shipping price.

Dimensions:

Hat: approx. 9.5 (H) x 24.5cm (L) x 19cm (D)
Queue: approx. 90cm (L)

Condition:

The hat is in satisfactory condition with repairs to the outside silk and inside red material. There is a hole at the back of the hat. The braid is in okay condition with its original plaited thread.
