HERALDRY Wotton English Baronetage England Royal Family Crests James I 3v
Thomas Wotton’s “English
Baronetage” is a classic, mid-18th-century history of English
heraldry. Published in an extensive set, this work covers royal families,
family lineage, and most importantly the family crests. Wotton sought to
provide a thorough collection of illustrations of family crests and
coats-of-arms which are included in this 1771 set. This set features 36 plates,
each with numerous engraved figures – including crests of the line of King
James and Charles I.
This 1771 three-volume edition was written,
edited, and explained by Edward Kimber and Richard Johnson who based this
edition on Wotton’s original.
