You are looking at a Carter W-1 type 1bbl Carburetor. The ID # is 839987 which is Carter # 574S. It is dated K8. The original application is 1936 to 49 Chevy 216 6 cylinder Car & truck. These Carter W1 carbs were used on many GM applications from 1934 to 1953 including Chevy trucks. Was also used on 1947 Plymouth and Kaiser Frazer. Venture size is 1 1/2 inch. The carb stud holes are 2 11/16 inches apart. A very nice original just found in a Pa back woods junkyard storage van. It is a core for rebuild because of its age. All the moving parts move freely. Shafts are not sloppy. A good, rebuildable core.
