Also known as Rose Haw or Hep, the Rosehip comes from the Rosa Canina, a thorny rose plant that can grow up to a height of 1 to 5 meters. It can be found in West Asia, Africa and Europe. The plant is also known as Dog Shrub, i.e."Canina" which refers to "dogs". The plant requires moist soil and bright sunlight to thrive and produce round red/orange berries that can grow to 1.5 to 2 cm in size. The extracts of Rosehip are used not only in food such as jellies and jams, but also for herbal teas, perfumes and cosmetic products.

Rosehip extracts are rich in Vitamin C and Carotenoids. Due to its high Vitamin C content, it is one of the most popular antioxidant sources. As an antioxidant, it helps prevent free radicals from destroying cell tissues and protect it from oxidative stress. It also helps in strengthening the body's natural defense and contributes to the overall health of body organs including the liver and kidney as well as with one's digestive and respiratory system. It also aids the promotion of healthy skin and eyes. Some studies suggest that the Rosehip extracts can help maintain and promote joint mobility for prolonged periods of time.
