ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is a vintage 1970's ROLEX - Tudor brand men's Rotor Self Winding wristwatch.
It has a gold dial and a gold plated case and bracelet.
It is marked Tudor Prince Oysterdate, Rotor, Self-Winding on the dial.
The back of the case is marked: Original Oyster Case by Rolex Geneva.
The gold plated bracelet is also marked with the Tudor and Rolex branding. Baton markers on the gold dial and sweep centre seconds.
On the underside near the lugs of the watch case where it joins to the bracelet it has these numbers 7586 on both ends of the bracelet strap, 835439, 9101/1 on the stuck out section of the watch case that takes the bracelet strap pin.
Serial number 835439 dates to about 1975 using the Tudor find watch date website.
Notice this watch case has a different way of attaching the bracelet strap to other later watch cases. Only certain watch straps will fit to this case type.
I have NOT taken the pins out to take the strap off, it is just as its been worn for the last time and
taken off the wrist of the deceased chap !
As you can see this watch has been worn and be assured this is a GENUINE Tudor Rolex wristwatch.
I know this watch was worn everyday by the deceased gentleman since he bought it new. The gold plating is worn off the bracelet strap. The gold case is really quite nice. The glass is heavy SCUFFED to the point you can hardly see through it. Its ORIGINAL and that is a good thing. It has a crack within the glass crystal too which you should be able to see down at the 7-8-9 position on the dial.
The SCREW DOWN CROWN has the Rolex sign and original as well and as we know through time the screw down crown NO LONGER screws down. So it is stuck out all the time.
You can still wind the watch and it ticks away happy. The pull out of the crown to change the hands WORKS fine as well. I altered to the right time, wound the movement and wore the watch a full day. I went to it the following day and it was at the correct time and ticking and same in the evening.
It has got superficial wear and age use problems really, a very nice classic watch for someone to restore and wear once again.
If you leave it a few days and gently rock the watch in your hand it will tick as well as it should do being an automatic.
So just the screw down crown threaded shaft wants looking at, the crystal glass wants either polishing out or replacing and the gold plated strap wants replacing or re-plating as well.
I have NOT been able to get into the back of the movement as I do not have a Rolex watch back remover.
Yes it needs a service and attention but this is a fairly easy job to some of you and I know you will enjoy restoring it.
100% genuine wristwatch in a non messed about with condition.
