Up for sale today is this California Historical Marker sign - #294, the Little Town of Old Rough and Ready. Made to the exact state standard used from 1947 to 1957. as can be guessed from the name, the place is an old mining town in Nevada County, California, dating back to the Gold Rush era. it was formed in 1849 and named after president Zachary Taylor's nickname. at one point, the town had even seceded from California Territory to avoid paying taxes!

The sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It is 18 x 15 inches, and weighs about 6 pounds. it is a faithful rescaling by one half along each dimension from the highway size 36 x 30 inch signs. it is a non-reflective sign - perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. please see my other auctions if you are looking for the full size 36 x 30 version.
