Lot of Waxed Threads for Hand Sewing - Waxed Silk & Waxed Silamide Nylon - Lot of 8 Original 675 yard Packages in Assorted Common Colors

Waxed Thread is stiffer, more water and mildew resistant, and less stretchy.

Waxed Silamide thread (6 packages) is a high-quality wax-coated nylon thread designed for fine hand sewing and custom alterations. Although it bares resemblance to waxed silk, and is equally light and smooth-textured, it is stronger than silk.  The soft texture and waxed finish make it highly sew-able and able to hold knots well.  Seamstress, tailors, and crafters often use Waxed Silamide thread as an alternative to silk thread for couture sewing, fine tailoring and alterations, delicate fabrics and furs, soft sculpture and dolls, quilted wall hangings, and for hand sewing of fine garments for its ability to glide effortlessly through fabrics without knotting, and it rarely puckers.

Waxed Silk thread (2 packages), on the other hand, is a beautiful option for those very special projects.  It is particularly prized for heirloom hand sewing and embroidery because of its smooth texture, lustrous sheen, and its ability to show vibrant color.

Whether you are working on fine tailoring, alterations, or creating delicate or heirloom sewing projects, these threads are great choices for your hand-sewing tasks.  This collection featuring both will make a welcome addition to your crafting and sewing supplies collection.

You get all the packages shown in the first photo.  The subsequent photos are enlargements for you to be able to study them better.  They came from a fine seamstress' estate and are offered as found.  There is no smoke odor.  There is a variety of colors.  I can feel and see that there is thread in each package, but I do not know if some has been used or not.  These are vintage and the packaging is getting a little rough.  See photos to complete description.
