Description A superb heavy English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver card tray/salver by the silversmith John Cox (1766 - 1786) in excellent condition and with full English silver hallmarks for London 1771. Beautiful quality and a genuine 253 years old; a good 7.15 inch size with a raised fluted "shell" border and it rests on silver hoof feet. It weighs a heavy approx 303 grams and is decorated with a lightly engraved historic entwined monogram. A fine early-dated salver with lovely clear marks.
Measurements Measures approx 7.15 inches (183mm) in diameter and is 1.2 inches (30mm) in height.
Date English antique early Georgian solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1771, (date letter "Q"). Lovely clear struck silver marks, no duty stamp as made before the silver duty act of 1784. The silversmiths initials are "I.C" for the silversmith John Cox (1766 - 1786).
