De Bobo geloven in een god Wuro, schepper van de aarde en de dieren. De eerste mens die geschapen werd, was een smid die om een metgezel vroeg. Zo is de Bobo of cultivator ontworpen. Toen trok Wuro zich terug en liet de mannen achter met drie zonen: Dwo, verantwoordelijk voor het helpen van de mens, Soxo, de geest van de wilde natuur en de bush, en Kwere, een figuur van zijn macht die straft met bliksem.In elk dorp werden altaren voor hen opgericht.
Smeden waren de priesters van de cultus van Dwo. De geesten van de bush en de voorouders, met name de stichter van het dorp, ontvingen offers. Dwo was de tussenpersoon tussen de mens en de schepper.
Wonend in een land met droge savanne waar de oogst afhangt van de komst van de regen, hebben de Bobo een reeks zuiveringsrituelen ingesteld om de natuur te verzoenen, wat fundamenteel goed voor hen is, in tegenstelling tot de ambivalentie die deze bezit voor andere etnische groepen. Omdat het passend is om de fouten van mensen te herstellen, hebben maskers de essentiële functie om het kwaad uit te wissen en het door God gegeven evenwicht tussen de zon, de aarde en de regen te herstellen. Aan het einde van het droge seizoen en vóór de hervatting van de landbouwwerkzaamheden vinden zuiveringsceremonies plaats met de bladmaskers die Dwo belichamen, de vezelmaskers en die van hout die de beschermende geesten van het dorp vertegenwoordigen: wrattenzwijn, mannelijke buffel met platte hoorns , haan waarvan de kuif loodrecht op het gezicht staat, toekan, vis, antilope, slang en havik. Ze belichamen allemaal de krachten van vruchtbaarheid, vruchtbaarheid en groei.
De zeer geometrische zonnemaskers hebben verschillende leesniveaus, toegankelijk afhankelijk van het niveau van de ingewijde.

Shipping - We ship worldwide. We try and get shipments out as quickly as possible after payment, usually shipping four times weekly.
Combined shipping - For buyers of multiple items please email us when done shopping for your combined invoice with reduced shipping fees. For urgent deliveries we can arrange courier shipments via DHL (additional charges incurred to be covered by the buyer).
Delivery – Delivery to most destinations is anywhere between 2 to 8 business days inside Europe and 16 to 21 business days to the rest of the world, after receiving our email confirmation that the item has been shipped. Parcels shipped from the Netherlands are sent using the Post NL and the parcel status is traceable online.
Refunds & Returns – We are aiming for your complete satisfaction. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase please return the item to us for a complete refund or exchange. No hassles, no questions asked. Refunds will be issued via PayPal or by Bank only. The shipping cost are not refund.
