Nadezhda French Lilac a.k.a. 'Hope': Like most lilacs, it has a delightful fragrance, is deer resistant, and extremely hardy. It produces profuse blooms that attract bees and butterflies! A fine double-flowered form, the purple buds reveal the bluish florets for a bicolor effect. The plant performs well in the landscape and expresses disease resistance. The blooms are fragrant, long-lasting and hold up well under inclement weather. This species and hybrids of it were so frequently grown and selected by French nurserymen that France became synonymous with fine lilacs; today they are known as “French Lilacs.
