===== Detailed specifications =====

Due to great success of my initial vintage laptops sale, I've decided to sell more of them with wider hardware range.

This time I'm selling an HP Compaq nx7000 laptop which has been refurbished and upgraded by me.

To begin with, this is a 15.4 inch widescreen laptop from 2004, sporting a Banias Pentium M processor running at 1.5GHz, two sticks of 512MB DDR RAM for a total of 1GB, a 40GB IDE hard drive and an ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics card. It's pretty thin for a laptop of its era, and it even has a dedicated graphics card in it.

It was complete when I got it and it's quite well specced with WiFi card and Bluetooth module fitted. There's some wear externally but it was relatively clean inside.

As usual I disassembled the laptop and cleaned all the parts inside: Motherboard, chassis, palmrest, heatsink and fan. After that I replaced the dead CMOS battery with a CR2032 battery in a battery holder for an easier replacement in the future, but because this laptop is so thin there's not much empty space inside, in the end I found just enough space near the SD card slot so I put it there.

I tried Windows 98 on it, it ran but was unstable with frequent crashes, plus drivers for most devices were not available so I scrapped the 98/XP dual boot idea. Then I put the original hard drive in and reinstalled Windows XP and it just worked, and thankfully HP still provides drivers for this laptop model on its website drivers was sorted out pretty quickly.

Since it can't run Win 98 there's no need to keep the RAM at 512MB RAM, so I upgraded it to 1GB to complement its otherwise well specced hardware.

It's in okay condition with wear on the keyboard, trackpad and palmrest, screen hinges are a bit loose past 90 degrees but they still hold the screen up. There's no apparent cracks and dents on the laptop though, and the lid only has a few small scratches.

The 15.4" LCD screen is a nice one with the resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels and it shows image perfectly, no imperfections on the panel too.

The battery doesn't hold charge but that's to be expected for a laptop of this age, it's fitted solely as extra weight which keeps the laptop balanced on a surface.

In terms of upgrades, the CPU can be upgraded (with 400MHz FSB Dothan chips, ie. Pentium M 7x5) and RAM can go up to 2GB (with two 1GB modules). You can still upgrade the hard drive and WiFi card but then 40GB is plenty for Win XP and you wouldn't want to connect to Internet on it anyway.

I've placed the files (BIOS, drivers, utilities, manuals etc) and ISO image of Win XP Pro setup discs in "My Documents", in case you need them in the future.

Its performance is great, as expected from a laptop with a Pentium M processor and a decent ATI Radeon graphics. It can run many late 90s to early 00s games as I've played a few with it before.

Besides the laptop, I'll also include 2 CDs (XP Pro setup discs plus a disc containing the files for the laptop) and a genuine HP 65W charger.

I'll do a final check to the laptop prior to delivery to make sure it works before I send it, I've also recorded the S/N of the laptop and hard drive to prevent scams.

I've tried to describe it the best I could but might have missed a few things so please feel free to ask questions.

Laptop will be sent through courier but collection is available at WD17, cash on collection also welcomed.
