Brand new Mulan's Palace Bluebird / Polly Pocket / Disney 1997 play set

This is a brand new and complete play set with all of the pieces.

I actually have two of these to sell. I believe they would have be pre-release play sets that were sent from Bluebirds Hong Kong operations direct to their Swindon office and would never have been packaged for sale. Unfortunately they no longer have their Jet Fair bags so I cannot confirm that this is the case. All I can confirm is that they would have come from Bluebirds Swindon office when it closed at the end of the 90s (see my explanation below.)

History of the Polly’s I’m selling.

All of the Polly Pockets I am selling came from my father-in-law’s attic where they have been stored amongst a number of other mint in box vintage toys for the past 30 years. I’m selling them on his behalf.

My father in law was a purchasing manager for Bluebird Toys between 1987 until the Swindon office closed (after they were bought by Mattel). 

He was one of the last people to leave the office and according to him, in the last couple of weeks the office was cleaned out and any toys, prototypes, or knickknacks was place on tables in the design department and the remaining staff were told that they should take anything the wanted because anything left would be thrown in a skip and destroyed!!

Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, my father-in-law filled a couple of boxes with toys and games.

Some of the things he took he gave to his nieces etc. but a lot of it was put in the attic with the intention of using it for gifts. Fortunately for us, he completely forgot about it for 30 years and only found it recently when clearing his house for a house move.

While researching these Polly’s I have been in contact with a lovely lady who worked in the development department of Bluebird Swindon at the same time as my father-in-law was a purchasing manager.

She has been able to confirm a lot of my suspicions, including that the items in the Jet Fair Industrial bags would have been pre-release sets sent directly from their operations in Hong Kong and never packaged for public sale. She has also helped me to identify as far as possible two prototypes.

All of my sales come from a smoke free home.
