This beautiful impressionist original watercolor by William D. Dampier is titled "Rain in Nevada City" and was completed in May 1970.  

It is a small piece that would make a great addition to any art collection; the framed, matted, and glass covered piece is 13" wide by 16" tall. It weighs 1 pound and 15 ounces.  

Please note that there are minor .25 inch discoloration (scratches) on the wooden frame in the upper left and right corners.  And there is minor discoloration on the white matting in the bottom center of the mat.  These all are shown in the last three photos.

About the Artist:

William D. Dampier (1910-1985) was born in Spokane, Washington in 1910. 

He spent most of his life in Los Angeles with a studio atop Mount Washington.  He was a pupil of Jack Wilkinson Smith and Ejnar Hansen. 

An impressionist, his work is characterized by brilliant color and fine draftsmanship. His subjects include desert landscapes and still life paintings.
