A mixed lot of very old buttons from a fascinating European seamstress' estate, including a pair of Goodyear Civil War Naval rubber buttons, a large number of sampan-hat shaped rubber buttons that may be from military spats, and assorted cloak, cape, coat buttons of early plastic, Bakelite celluloid. One may be wood. The large pair measure 2" across. Most are black but one Bakelite one is dark chocolate brown, and the two largest coat buttons appear to be blue-black. You will receive all the buttons pictured here, a little over 5 ounces in bulk. Lots of these buttons have authentic signs of use, age, and war, including chips, surface oxidation and many other clues to their age and origin. None are perfect; all are wonderful.
