1973 Press Photo Rt. Rev. Msgr. Alberto Giovannetti interview at his UN office
The Right Reverend Monsignor Alberto Giovannetti, 59, described as a down-to-earth priest with a yen for homemade lasagna, gestures during an interview at his United Nations office. The stocky and friendly cleric is, by now, a familiar figure at the U.N. since his appointment by Pope Paul VI in 1964 as the Holy See's first permanent observer to the world body. He praised U.N. efforts for developing nations, is wary about the 1974 population conference, watchful on the Middle East and unhappy about human rights. Photo measures 7 x 9.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1973.
