The giant blue morpho (Morpho didius) is a striking Neotropical butterfly found in South America. It belongs to the subfamily Morphinae within the family Nymphalidae. With a wingspan of up to 150 millimeters (5.9 inches), it’s one of the largest species in the Morpho genus. The dorsal side of its wings displays iridescent and metallic blue hues, while the forewings are elongated. These butterflies are captivating due to their unique microstructure which creates their brilliant blue color.
