Japanese administered Truk (Chuuk) Islands, Micronesia, South Pacific Ocean.1920's issued postcards.....An uncommon, 100+ year old monotone postcard with a photo image of Truk Island natives dancing in a large group, posing for the Japanese photographer...*Note the Japanese Imperial Navy Sailors and other spectators in the background at the right.

*This uncommon postcard was issue by the NBK-Nan'yo Boeki Kaisha trading company. The Truk Islands were partially occupied, claimed by the Spanish by explorer Álvaro Saavedra in 1528. They were visited occasionally by 19th-century traders and whalers and were included in the German purchase of parts of Micronesia from Spain (1899).

*As part of Japan's efforts to atatck German territories for the Allies in WWI, the islands were annexed and occupied by Japan in 1914...Eventually the island was fortified as part of Japan's strategy for the coming Pacific War plans.

*There is an ink datestamp seen on the card...I've included a clear image of an example of it from a different source....dated "11.11.3"...in 1922.
