Item Description

It was first introduced in the Middle Kingdom of ancient Egypt and increased in popularity during the New Kingdom. These statues are believed to return to life in the afterlife and perform tasks for the deceased, such as farming or cooking. The number of dills placed in the tomb depended on the social status of the owner, ranging from a few to more than a thousand.
