The design and brilliantly executed finish chased work like that of the fame
Nocholas Heinzelman (1837-1900).
Known as the
"ragged tramp who turned out to be a brilliant chaser" (Carpenter).
During the late 1880s, Gorham President Edward Hollbrook, seeing that he was hungry & homeless, gave
Heinzelman food and shelter in one of the firm's back studios. He came and went as he pleased, performing some
small silversmithing work, until it was discovered he was a master chaser. Having been trained years earlier in New
Orleans. A tea service he started in 1895 was not completed until April 1896, the kettle took one year and the tray
done in 1897.
Period engraved monogram for the original owner.

Hallmarked as shown.
This rare 1917 Heinzelman style coffee pot 9 1/2 inches tall and 9 1/2 handle to
spout and weighs 34 1/2 standard ounces.
In very, very fine condition.
Appears little used.
Retains original hand carved detail, rich silver patina.
Stands firm on table.
Cover closes flush.
Handle secure.
