This is an elegant George V Sterling Silver Photo Frame. The frame is oblong and the visible picture size is 3ins x 2.25ins. The strut is angled so that the frame can be used either portrait or landscape.

The photo frame was made in Birmingham by Charles S. Green & Co and dates to 1922. Charles Stevenson Green was a grandson of the original Charles Green who founded his firm in Birmingham in 1824, later becoming Charles Green & Son. Originally a partner in this firm with his brothers Lionel and Roland, Charles S. Green left in 1904 to set up his own company Charles S. Green & Co Ltd. Both companies were very successful with Charles S. Green & Co remaining in business up until around 1990 and Charles Green & Son still going strong today.

Condition is very good, with just a small dent low down on the right hand side plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 100 years on display. The hinged strut on the back is in good working order and the frame stands securely. Please make sure to view all the photographs as these form part of the description.

Overall, the frame stands 10.6cm / 4.17ins high by 8.1cm / 3.19ins wide and weighs in at 96.9g / 3.42oz.

The hallmarks, on the top of the frame, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter x for 1922 and the C S G & Co makers' mark for Charles S. Green & Co Ltd.
