Up for sale today is this Arizona state line sign. Made to the exact state standard used from approximately 1950 until the early 1970s. Please see the 1960s photo of the one entering the state from New Mexico on US route 66.
An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; they are long since retired from active use. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without chancing a hernia.
The sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 16 pounds, 8 ounces. The original size is about 10 feet wide; this one is a precise rescaling of the freeway style sign down to a more manageable 36 by 18 inch size. It is a non-reflective sign - perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. (If you would like a larger size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!)
This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
