(ca. 1860) Washington Tomb medal. Baker-128A. Choice Mint State. Silver. Plain edge. 5 grams. 19.2 mm. Deeply toned dark gray with a slate blue tone over deeply reflective and lustrous surfaces. A beautiful little medal by George Hampden Lovett, showing an accurate depiction of Washington's tomb at Mount Vernon on the reverse along with Lovett's L signature. Unlisted in silver in the Rulau-Fuld book, rather unusual since silver was the only metal Baker knew of for this variety in 1885. It remains rare in all compositions.
