Battery contacts are corroded/dirty but the flash still powers on and fires. May have some electrical gremlins possibly related to contacts. Batteries need to be fully charged and power button may need to be pressed more than once. Flash seemed to fire at all power levels when tested. Zoom works along with the built-in diffuser.
