Schuyler Colfax Autograph

This letter on paper was glued into a 19th century scrapbook that I purchased about 30 years ago. I am finally getting around to removing many of the items which includes numerous historical autographs, and paper ephemera. I have not authenticated any of these but most have information on the reverse which will give you information on age.

This auction features a handwritten letter from Colfax on Vice President letterhead declining an invitation. Written to a Doctor Allen and dated 1872. A 1/4” hole in paper just below the word would along with some ink spears. Overall paper dimension is 5” by 8”. Included is a printed declaration declining the invitation meauring about 5” by 4”.
