A handsome Chinese export sterling silver dish, vase or centerpiece, possibly for arranging flowers or forcing bulbs, in the shape of a section of bamboo, on crossed bamboo legs, the body chased and engraved with bamboo shoots and leaves, the hollow body 10 5/8 inches long and approximately 2 3/8 inches in diameter, with a rectangular opening on top 7 1/4 inches by 1 3/8 inches with a removeable "frog"(?) that snaps into the opening, each leg is 3 3/4 inches long making the piece 4 5/8 inches high, unmonogrammed, marked TACKHING STERLING with an O in a cut corner square (Tackhing / Tack Ching active in Hong Kong during the late 19th and early 20th century according to online sources), 12.23 troy ounces (380.2 grams), in good condition with a few dings at the ends of the log and on the edge of the bottom but without breaks or repairs.
