The VOX V809 Repeat Percussion module was produced for VOX by JEN of Pescara Italy.

The V809 was designed to plug directly into the input jack of a guitar (best used with side mounted jacks like Les Paul’s and Telecaster).

A standard guitar cable (not included) then connected the module to an amplifier. The V809 included an on/off switch and a rotary rate control to adjust the speed of the effect.

It was offered from 1969 through 1973. This example is in excellent condition. It comes with the bottom of the original box (no lid), and a 9V battery.

It was recently tested and it creates the classic effect it was known for. Although the original instructions are long lost, here is a copy of the original directions:

1. Plug unit into receptacle on guitar.

2. Plug cable from amplifier input into unit jack.

3. With switch in OFF position, guitar is connected directly to

     amplifier.

4. Unit operates with switch in ON position.

5. Adjust RATE knob for desired percussion beat rate.  Many

effects can be obtained, for example SLOW repeat - use

for rhythm accent; FAST repeat use for banjo strumming

    effect.

NOTE: FOR MAXIMUM LIFE, ALWAYS UNPLUG AMPLIFIER

CORD AT UNIT END WHEN NOT IS USE.

TO REPLACE BATTERY - Remove screw in center of unit back

plate. Loosen nut on input jack.  Slide back plate out of

case, exposing battery. Replace with equivalent 9 volt

battery. Close case in opposite sequence.
