This is a pre-owned, very good condition Walthers HO Scale 40' Meat Reefer in the American Refrigerator Transit Co. (Heavily Weathered) paint scheme. The road number is ART 26255 (Item #932-2552). There are spots of blue & green paint the underframe. The model has been weathered by the third-party seller. Kadee couplers & metal wheelsets have been added. Please look closely at the photos as they are part of the description.
Although outwardly similar to produce reefers, meat reefers were built especially for their cargo. Some cars were equipped with hooks riding on overhead rails, identical to those used in slaughterhouses and processing plants, to simplify loading and unloading. Meat reefers were cooled with ice or a mixture of ice and salt called brine.
Meat traffic was big business for many railroads in the 1950s and 60s. To get it over the line as fast as possible, reefers were blocked into solid trains which made them easier to service en route. Reefer blocks were given top priority, not only because of the perishable cargo, but to avoid re-icing, which was an added expense.
Adding a fleet of these colorful cars to your railroad will provide all types of operating and switching possibilities. Available for the first time in plastic, these were some of the most colorful cars ever, in service from the 1940s to the 70s. The belt rail on the side distinguishes it from other meat reefers, and there's a full-height door.

Transfer of Parcels - 7:00pm to 9:30 am
Parcels are delivered to the various carriers after the close of our Business Day, between 7:00 pm of the "Shipping Day' and 9:30 am the following morning.
Worst Case example:
If you place an order and it is released by PayPal for shipment after 3:00 pm on the Friday afternoon before a Monday Holiday, that order will be processed the next "Shipping Day" which is the following Tuesday. (Friday evening, Saturday Sunday and the Monday holiday are not shipping days)
USPS Express Mail (2-3 business day delivery in the U.S.)
Depending on when your order is submitted and PayPal releases the order to us as "OK to ship", the time of delivery that eBay estimates may not be valid as the actual "Guaranteed Delivery" time of the United States Postal Service. The difference often varies 24 hours or more.
The USPS only guarantees delivery for an Express Parcel after the shipping fee is paid to them and the label printed by the shipper.
We have no control over the USPS and make NO Guarantees beyond the USPS Guaranteed Delivery time.
When your order is processed during our "Shipping Day" the label is printed and tracking information is provided to you "the customer" through eBay. The customer can then view the actual Guaranteed Delivery time by entering the tracking number on USPS.com.
