INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The window film is easy to install, anyone with basic DIY skills should be able to install the film successfully.

 1.  The film is installed to the inside of the window, the glass surface should be smooth with no cracks. Use a window scraper or stripping knife to scrape off all the dirt on the glass.

 2.  Fill a small bowl with water, add a few drops of washing-up liquid (dish detergent) and mix them together to make a water solution then pour it into a spray bottle.
Tip: Mix water solution slowly to reduce bubbles.

 3.  Spray water solution on the glass and clean it thoroughly using a lint free cloth.
Tip: Clean the window frame as well so you have a clean area to work with.

 4.   Measure the window size plus an allowance of 10-60mm for trimming. Mark the larger size on the film using a ballpoint pen and plastic ruler then cut the film to size using a pair of scissors.
Tip: The film is supplied with all the edges straight. Except for wide window, it is not necessary to cut or trim the top edge of the film as it will stick on neatly with the top edge of the window frame.

 5.  Spray a generous amount of water solution on the glass, place the film on a table then remove the backing film to expose the adhesive. Spray water solution on the adhesive then apply the film to the glass from top to bottom.
Tip: A label is attached to the back of the film to help backing film removal, if you have cut off the label you can still remove the backing film easily by sticking on masking tape to a corner of the film.

 6.  Spray water solution on the film then use a squeegee to squeegee out the water solution and bubbles between the film and the glass.
Tip: Push the bubbles out from the centre towards the edges.

 7.  Hold and place a metal ruler against the window frame over the film's excess edge, then run a craft knife along the ruler to trim off the excess edge. Repeat until all of the film's excess edges are trimmed off. When finished the film will have neatly trimmed edges with a small gap of 2mm between the film and the window frame.
Tip: Use a new blade to ensure the film is trimmed neatly.

 8.  Squeegee the film one more time and check for large bubbles, small water bubbles can be ignored. The film takes many weeks to dry when it is fully dry its appearance will improve and the small water bubbles will disappear. Any tiny bubbles left are probably trapped particles of dust or dirt, you should not worry about them as they are virtually invisible. For cleaning the window film use a mild glass cleaner, adhesive residue, grease and oil can be removed with white spirit.
