Benny began his career in 1974 with the New York Mets. He played for the Mets 1974-75, St. Louis Cardinals 1977, Baltimore Orioles 1979-84 and Cleveland Indians 1985. Benny played in 425 career games and pounded out 217 hits (including 42 doubles, 1 triple and 38 HR's) in 865 at bats for a .251 career batting average. Benny hit a homerun in his first major leage at bat and was a member of the 1979 AL Champion Baltimore Orioles as well as the 1983 World Champion Orioles.
