This is a new replacement aerial mast for the Mark 3 (also the later face-lifted versions often referred to as Mk 3.5 and Mark 4) Volkswagen Golf Convertible, Cabriolet, Cabrio manufactured between 1994 and 2002, where the aerial is mounted on the front wing/fender.  This is a genuine Hirschmann replacement mast as supplied to VW/ VAG by the original equipment suppliers Hirschmann of Germany. This mast has a length of 410 mm (16 inches) with a flexible black rubber sheathed coil around the whip. It has a 5 mm diameter male thread 7 mm in length. VW part number is 3A0051849 which normally retails for  £ 25.00.

This mast is for AM/FM radio reception.

These aerials were pioneered by Hirschmann, Bosch and Beru, all based in Germany and all suppliers to vehicle manufacturers as original equipment.

This is a quality Genuine OE part to VAG specification and should not be confused with many cheaper, poorer quality copies that are widely available, mostly manufactured in the Far East that use threaded adapters to fit different sized threads. NONE of these copies are genuine or OE parts. If you wish to maintain your VW's superior reliability and build quality, fit the parts  VW approve, to their high standards, and not some cheap inferior quality part of dubious origin.

This mast replaces the original aerial/mast fitted as original equipment from the factory. On older vehicles, please compare the photograph and description to the aerial mast on your vehicle, to ensure the aerial has not already been replaced with an aftermarket aerial.
