The photo came out just OK, on this, the map looks much better in original , much sharper, detailed, with beautiful handcolored areas, sharp and bright, the map looks much better than the photo. The map shows the home and land owners, size of buildings and homes, named period business and industry, named churches, named schools, named streets, named neighborhoods and additions, named business and industry, and much more, the detail is quite fascianting. There is an 1931 Copyright to G.M. Hopkins Co, lower right hand side, this dates the map nicely. Many fascinating areas on the map. This is a vintage antique fine handcolored map, printed on thick, beautiful paper. From the very rare 1931 Hopkins Atlas of the Environs of Rochester, Volume 3 . In my opinion Hopkins was the premier mapmaker of this period. I've seen many great antique county and city maps, by great names like Beers, Bromley , Mueller, Caldwell and more, and Hopkins was definitly one of the finest of this period. They used the best handcoloring, paper, typography, cartography and overall amazing detail. The map is an amazing and important historical snapshot of this area of New York at this time. My photo wont show the full beauty of the map. Map is in nice shape, beautiful condition, and would frame and display quite nicely. The size is of the map is an amazing 24" by 34".
