The ball joint has a great affect on the handling and stability of the car. The wheel hub mounts the suspension of the car via these links, once the links wear or even break the handling of the car will be greatly compromised and could be dangerous!

Worn links will make a knocking noise as the suspension moves and turns, gentle at first but within a few weeks it will quickly wear more, and become quite severe, and may even break

Any free play at all in the ball joints will result in an MOT failure
