The Beaumont Company: Art Glass in the 1980s by Robert and Helen Jones - Because Beaumont didn't operate in the usual fashion of large American glass factories. It is not well-known despite its longevity (1916 - 1991). The authors know of only two occasions when Beaumont merchandised lines in their own name. The article discusses the second of these. Six large color plates support the Jones' contention that this glass deserves recognition. Seeing Durand through Rose-Colored Glasses by Edward J. Meschi - Victor Durand, overseeing his team at the Fancy Shop of the Vineland Flint Glass Works, allowed the artisans freedom to experiment and create. Mesche describes the process they used - double & triple casing - to produce Lady Gay Rose colored glass. Eight color plates show an array of fine examples. Butter Dishes: Now That I've Got Them, What Will I Do with Them? by E.J. Williford Sr. - Williford Sr has an extensive collection of covered butter dishes all which he would like to share for both pleasure and exchanging information. Here are 24 pieces followed by a reference guide. All are American glass. Some of the represented companies: Fostoria, U.S. Glass Co., and Fenton. Genuine Duncan, Part 2, Figural Favorites by Leslie Pina - Though the most popular of Duncan's figurals are the various Pall Mall No. 30 Swans, glass items of all sorts abounded. These are discussed and presented here, as well as sculptural designs. The 12 color plates depicting items such as the well received three face salt & pepper shakers, illustrate the text. The Davies Glass and Manufacturing Company by Dr James S. Measell - Measell surveys the history of this short lived and little researched company. Large color photos showcase samples of their wares in amber, opaque red and crystal. Swarovski Crystal by Mark Pickvet - Pickvet describes the Austrian region which is home Swaroski crystal, the crystals production, some of the designers and product lines. Twelve color plates. |
