Each and every piece is unique to the next to display distinctly unique variations in each piece, which rules out use of any ultrasonic, mass-produced carving process as each piece would be exactly the same as the master's (first original) carving. There is a very limited quantity of artists remaining today, who still work in this field as this is one of the hardest challenges for any gemstone carver. The combinations of highly developed artistic ability, skilled craftsmanship, and many years of honed experience are needed to create these life-like scenes. It is quite rare these days, for subjects other than portraits to be carved by hand into cameos. The traditional themes of classical scenes from mythology or a standard image of a young lady, are more likely to be made with the help of the ultrasonic carving machine. However, again, this cameo was 100% hand-carved without the use of any computer or mass production engraving machine.

- About the Artist and Gem-Cutter: Irena Wastag, formerly Jaroslavceva was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, its capital city. In 1993, Irena moved to Gdansk, Poland and worked with several jewelry companies in the production of silver jewelry until 1994. It was in 1994, when she discovered her true calling of carving amber. With skilled talent and her natural gifted abilities, she creates 100% hand-carved amber pieces with exquisite detailing. Her cameos are recognized worldwide including Europe, Japan, and the United States. Irena's limited edition intaglio cameo's are dedicated to her inspiration, Alphonse Mucha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), a Czech Republic Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, known best for his distinct style. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements, postcards, theatre sets, wallpaper, and jewelry designs in what was termed initially the "Mucha-Style", but later became known as Art Nouveau (New Art). Mucha's works frequently featured beautiful young women in flowing, vaguely Neoclassical-looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers which sometimes formed halos behind their heads. In contrast with contemporary poster makers he used pale pastel colors. His Art Nouveau style was often imitated. The Art Nouveau style however, was one that Mucha attempted to disassociate himself from throughout his life; he always insisted that rather than maintaining any fashionable stylistic form, his paintings were entirely a product of himself and Czech art.
